After your baby is born I will visit you daily for the first few days, and will also be available to you by telephone. I can provide helpful advice and tips on establishing breastfeeding, and will check to make sure that both you and your baby are doing well.
As the days go by, and you begin to feel that a daily visit from me is not needed, I will reduce the frequency of the visits until you are ready to stop them altogether.

I will weigh your baby periodically, to make sure that he or she is thriving, ask you about any questions or problems you may have, and will perform a blood screening test on your baby when (s)he is a few days old. |
| When you have got to the point where you no longer need visits from a midwife, I shall ensure a smooth hand over of care to your health visitor. |
